I took a small group to a block of land we are exploring as an option for setting up a community today. It is a large block, 104ha of mostly New Zealand native bush. It has some really good aspects: being a five minute drive to the closest supermarket and airport and 10 minutes to central Whangarei. It is close to the water of the Whangarei harbour and some sites have water views. There are several streams and the entire water catchment is bush. There are some steep enough drops to create power and an old barn and flat area and a place that could potentially be dammed for a lake.
